EEPSEA Offers Training on Fishery Economics

EEPSEA offered a course on the Economics of Fishery and Marine Resource Management last 15-16 May, 2014 in Phuket Thailand.

Nineteen participants from seven countries (Cambodia, China, Lao, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam) attended the course. Among them are researchers who work in Tonle Sap, Cambodia; Mekong River, Vietnam; Salween River, Myanmar; Laguna Lake, Philippines; and Songkhla Lake, Thailand.

Dr. Nancy Olewiler of Simon Fraser University’s Public Policy Program facilitated the two-day course. The discussion started with the participants sharing the prevailing issues in each of the five lakes/rivers and was followed by activities and discussions on the economic tools to use in analyzing fishery resource issues.
