In partnership with the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), a five-day Environmental Economics Training Course for Lecturers and Researchers was held on 8-12 July 2014 in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Thirty-one (31) participants from eight Cambodian universities, the Cambodian Ministry of Environment, and the Cambodia Development Resource Institute (CDRI) attended the course. Dr. Orapan Nabangchang, EEPSEA Deputy Director for Training and Partnership, and Dr. Piyaluk Buddhawongsa, an EEPSEA senior researcher at Chiang Mai University’s School of Economics, served as the course resource persons.
The course aimed to enhance the participants’ knowledge and understanding of the tools and approaches applied in environmental economics so as to help them further develop their respective university’s Environmental Economics courses and improve existing teaching materials. Furthermore, research proposals further developed by the participants after the course may be submitted for possible funding by EEPSEA through its Small Research Grants (SRGs) program available to Cambodian researchers.
