This research determined the net economic benefits of three forest resource management strategies to help inform the stakeholders of the most economically efficient management option for Kho Hong Hill. Based on the cost-benefit analysis (CBA) performed (with a projection period spanning 25 years), under Scenario I (base case scenario), the annual benefits from the ecosystem services of KHH would turn negative from year 15 onwards. Meanwhile, both Scenario II (establishment of protected areas) and Scenario III (implementing forest rehabilitation programs) yielded positive net present values (NPV). Forest management through reforestation can yield higher NPVs than preserving the existing forest areas; albeit, the former involves higher management costs.
